How to read from a teleprompter naturally
A teleprompter saves you from memorising every line, but it can make you sound like you are reading, because you are. The difference between stiff and natural is mostly preparation: a script written for the ear, a comfortable setup and a couple of run-throughs before you record.

Write the way you talk
Use short sentences, everyday words and contractions. Read the script aloud while writing and rewrite anything you stumble over. If it does not sound like you, it will not look like you on camera.
Set up for eye contact
Place the text as close to the camera lens as possible and keep only a few lines visible at a time, in a size you can read comfortably. Small eye movements look natural; reading across a wide screen does not.
Find your speed
Set the scroll to your natural speaking pace, or use a mode that follows your voice if your app has one. Too fast makes you rush; too slow makes you wait and lose energy.
Rehearse and mark pauses
Read the script aloud a few times before recording. Mark pauses and words to stress. Do it in short takes; you can edit them together. Compare apps in teleprompter apps.

| 2. Set it up | text near the lens, readable size | eye contact |
| 3. Tune the speed | match your natural pace | no rushing or waiting |
| 4. Rehearse | a few read-throughs aloud | familiar, not read |
| 5. Mark pauses | breaks and emphasis in the script | natural rhythm |

How do I not look like I am reading a teleprompter?
Keep the text close to the lens with only a few lines visible, write in your own spoken words and rehearse a few times before recording.
What speed should a teleprompter be?
Your natural speaking pace. Adjust it during rehearsal, or use voice-following scroll if your app supports it.
Can I use my phone as a teleprompter?
Yes. Teleprompter apps show your script on screen while you record with the front or rear camera.
