Best apps to learn Czech
The fullest course is Česky: 700+ lessons from A1 to B2 with an exam after each level. RStudy is built for Ukrainian speakers, with an A1/A2 course and a 60-topic dictionary. To start for free, try LENGO or Mooveez, and Nemo works offline.
How we picked: the app has to teach Czech itself. We checked each app’s own App Store description and left apps of Russian origin out.
From zero to B2
Česky runs A1, A2, B1 and B2 in order, over 700 lessons, each with grammar in plain language, new words with audio and practice. A placement test lets you start where you are, and each level ends with an exam, with writing and speaking at B1 and B2. AI rates your pronunciation and checks short texts. The first A1 sections and the first story are free; the rest of the course and offline lesson packs are Česky Premium.
For Ukrainian speakers
RStudy is written in Ukrainian and builds on Czech being a Slavic language too. Its A1/A2 course follows proven textbooks, and the dictionary has 1,600+ words and phrases across 60 topics, such as the doctor, government offices, work and shopping, with pronunciation transcribed in Ukrainian letters. Section 1 and the full dictionary are free.
Free options
LENGO keeps all basic features free forever, with extra content in LENGO Pro. Mooveez, from Prague, lists Czech among the languages you can learn for free, through animated videos, lots of listening and repeating after native speakers with voice recognition. Its method was built with the Faculty of Arts at Charles University.
Offline
Nemo gives you essential Czech words and phrases with native audio, all stored on the device so it works in airplane mode, plus Speech Studio to compare your voice with the teacher’s.
