Apps to learn the Ukrainian alphabet
Three Ukrainian-made apps teach the alphabet through play. Мишеняткова Абетка from Lviv has a little mouse called Kruť who helps toddlers see, hear and touch each letter and then build words. АБВляндія for children from 3 has four interactive games for every letter, ending with a short poem by Ukrainian poets. Вивчаю — не чекаю, made by War Child Holland and Osvitoria with Ukraine’s Ministry of Education, adds reading, maths and the times tables for primary school.

АБВляндія is for children from 3. Each letter has four interactive games that end with a short poem by Ukrainian poets such as Varvara Hrynko, Natalia Zabila and Hanna Rymar. Letters are grouped by school method, with a Learn tab and a Play tab, and parents can limit time in the app. The first group of letters is free.

Вивчаю — не чекаю combines video lessons and mini games for primary school: the alphabet, reading exercises in Ukrainian, grade 1 maths and the times tables.
