How many apps speak Ukrainian: 2,397 top apps of the App Store Ukraine
We took the top 100 free apps of every App Store category in Ukraine, 2,397 apps in all, and checked which of them list Ukrainian among their interface languages. Just under half do. The ten most popular apps of each category do better, while developer tools, games, entertainment and creative tools trail furthest.
Key findings
- 47% of the top free apps in the App Store Ukraine (1,120 of 2,397) offer a Ukrainian interface.
- Among the top 10 of each category the share rises to 66%: the most popular apps localize more often.
- 18% of the apps (441 of 2,397) list Russian among their languages but not Ukrainian.
- 22% of the apps are available in English only.
- In 11 of 24 categories at least half of the top apps speak Ukrainian. Finance leads with 70%; Developer Tools is last with 9%.
- In search, the picture is thinner: across 79 everyday niches only 25% of the 1,260 unique apps in the first search results speak Ukrainian.

What it means for app makers
- A Ukrainian interface is not yet the norm, so in many categories it is still a way to stand out to people in Ukraine.
- Where the most popular apps already speak Ukrainian, as in finance and shopping, an app without it starts behind.
- Adding Ukrainian to the App Store language list only counts when the interface really is translated.
Method
- Source: public iTunes endpoints, App Store Ukraine, captured on 2026-09-26: the top free chart of each of 24 categories and the Search API for 79 niche queries.
- Languages are those the developer lists for the app in the App Store (languageCodesISO2A). An app counts as speaking Ukrainian when Ukrainian is on that list.
- Categories: the top 100 free apps each, 2,397 apps in all. Niches: up to 20 search results each in the order Apple returns them; the API gave 12 to 20 per query (median 19), 1,442 results and 1,260 unique apps, since one app can appear in several niches. Per-niche shares count the results of that niche; the overall niche share counts unique apps.
- Shares count apps, not downloads or users. Paid apps and games charts other than the overall Games category are not included.
