App Store and Google Play fees in 2026

On the App Store, developers with up to 1 million USD in proceeds in the previous calendar year, and developers new to the store, can join the Small Business Program and pay a 15% commission on paid apps and In-App Purchases. Outside it, you receive 70% of a subscription price in a subscriber’s first year and 85% after one year of paid service. On Google Play, transactions with users in the EEA, UK and US from June 30, 2026 carry 10% plus a 5% billing fee on the first $1M of annual earnings, and the Standard rates in the same table are higher; in other markets the 15% tier on the first $1M still applies. Figures below are quoted from both stores.

App Store: the Small Business Program

The program cuts Apple’s commission to 15% on paid apps and In-App Purchases. You qualify if you and your Associated Developer Accounts, meaning accounts you own or control or that own or control yours, earned no more than 1 million USD in proceeds in the previous calendar year and have not passed it in the current year; developers new to the App Store qualify too. To enroll, the Account Holder accepts the latest Paid Apps agreement in App Store Connect and lists any associated accounts. If you pass 1 million USD during the year, the standard rate applies to future sales; if proceeds later fall back under the threshold for a calendar year, you can re-qualify the year after. For developers on Apple’s alternative terms in the EU, program members and subscriptions after their first year get a further reduced 10%.

App Store subscriptions: 70% then 85%

For auto-renewable subscriptions outside the program, Apple pays you 70% of the price at each billing cycle during a subscriber’s first year, minus taxes, and 85% once that subscriber has accumulated one year of paid service. Paid offers such as introductory prices and offer codes count toward that year; free trials and renewal extensions do not. The count is per subscription group, upgrades and downgrades inside the group do not reset it, and if a subscription lapses and is renewed within 60 days the count resumes. Small Business Program members get 85% from the first billing cycle. For how trials and paywalls must be described, see how to market a subscription app.

Google Play: what changed on June 30, 2026

For transactions with users in the EEA, UK or US from June 30, 2026, Google splits users into new installs, whose first install or first update from Google Play was on or after that date, and existing installs, from before it. On the first $1M of annual earnings, every column is 10% plus a 5% billing fee. Below that, the Standard row lists 10% plus 5% for auto-renewing subscriptions, 20% plus 5% for other transactions from new installs, and 25% plus 5%, or 20% for external web links, from existing installs; the Play Games Level Up and Apps Experience programs lower those to 15% and 20% plus 5%, or 15% for external web links. The billing fee applies when a purchase goes through Google Play Billing, or to the first purchase of a paid app or game. Google also says 97% of developers distribute their apps at no charge, and that 99% of those who pay a service fee are eligible for 15% or less through its programs.

Google Play in all other markets

Until the new fees roll out globally, Google Play keeps the older structure elsewhere: developers enrolled in the 15% tier pay 15% on the first $1M (USD) earned each year and 30% above it; auto-renewing subscriptions are 15% regardless of earnings; and programs such as the Play Media Experience Program can bring other transactions to 15% or lower. For alternative billing systems offered to users in South Korea or India, the fee is the Google Play billing fee reduced by 4%. The 15% on the first $1M requires enrolling in that tier, so check Play Console if you have not.
