Apps that check your text for mistakes
The easiest spell checker is the keyboard itself. Gboard and Microsoft SwiftKey autocorrect as you type and support Ukrainian. For deeper grammar checks, mostly in English, there are Grammarly and QuillBot, which work as keyboards inside any app.
How we chose: apps that check spelling or grammar on the phone, sold by their own developer or by a seller listed as a trader on the App Store, with features taken from each app’s store description. Ukrainian support is marked only where the listing names it. No prices, download counts or ratings.
Gboard: the keyboard from Google
Gboard lists Ukrainian among its iPhone and iPad keyboard languages and, on Android, autocorrects and suggests from any of the languages you have enabled, so you can type in Ukrainian and English without switching. It also has glide typing and Google search built in.
Microsoft SwiftKey: autocorrect that learns
Microsoft SwiftKey learns your word choice, slang and nicknames to make autocorrect and predictions fit the way you write. Its Google Play listing names Ukrainian among the supported languages. It has swipe typing and themes too.
Grammarly and QuillBot: grammar checks in any app
Grammarly works as a keyboard and suggests fixes for spelling, grammar and conciseness, detects tone and rewrites a whole message in a couple of taps. QuillBot fixes spelling and punctuation mistakes with its Grammar Checker, paraphrases text and translates it, also from its own keyboard. Neither listing mentions Ukrainian, so they suit English texts best.
Tips for clean text
Turn on spell check in your keyboard settings and add both Ukrainian and English if you write in both. Check long texts in Grammarly or QuillBot before sending. To translate a text rather than check it, see translator apps.
