Apps for smart scales

A smart scale sends its readings to its maker’s app. For Xiaomi it depends on the model: the newer Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 works with Xiaomi Home, while Mi Scale and Mi Body Composition Scale work with Zepp Life. Other brands have their own: RENPHO Health, Withings, eufy Life and Fitdays. Xiaomi Home, Zepp Life and Fitdays have a Ukrainian interface.

How we picked: only the app each scale maker names, from its App Store and Google Play listing, plus Xiaomi’s own S400 page. We compared what each says it records, whether it keeps separate profiles for the family and whether it syncs to Apple Health. A scale and its app are not a medical device; ask a doctor about results that worry you.

Which app for a Xiaomi scale?

Xiaomi uses two apps, and the model decides. Xiaomi’s page for the Body Composition Scale S400 sends you to Xiaomi Home: open it for the full body composition report, and switch modes there, such as weighing with a baby, a balance test or a visitor measurement. Zepp Life, formerly Mi Fit, lists Mi Scale and Mi Body Composition Scale among its devices, together with Mi Band and Amazfit watches, so your weight sits next to sleep and activity. If you are not sure, the app is named in the scale’s manual.

RENPHO, Withings and eufy

RENPHO Health tracks body composition metrics such as BMI, body fat, body water, bone mass, basal metabolism, body age and muscle mass, turns them into charts and reports you can share, keeps a separate profile for each family member and syncs to Apple Health. Withings is one app for all Withings devices, with weight and body composition next to activity, sleep, blood pressure and cycle tracking, and it connects to Apple Health, Strava and MyFitnessPal. eufy Life pairs eufy scales over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and sends each weighing to Apple Health.

Fitdays for scales without a brand app

If your scale’s manual names Fitdays, that is its app. It records weight for the whole family with up to 24 users, shows trend charts and girth records, guides you through measuring and syncs to Apple Health. Fitdays itself says its data is for reference in weight control and fitness, not for medical decisions.

Put the numbers to use

A scale shows the trend; the change comes from what you eat and how you move. Pair it with a calorie counter or a fasting app.
