TouchRetouch: built for removing things
TouchRetouch by ADVA Soft detects and removes small background objects such as street signs, bins and traffic lights, has a separate tool for wires and power lines, and removes background people and shadows. It also retouches faces, removes glare and tattoos, changes backgrounds and removes text from Instagram and Snapchat posts.
Snapseed and Google Photos: already on your phone
Snapseed by Google has a Healing tool that, in its own words, removes the uninvited neighbour from a group picture, alongside selective brightness and contrast edits and film looks. In Google Photos, Magic Eraser removes distractions, Unblur sharpens blurry shots and Portrait Light adjusts lighting on portraits.
Picsart: remove an object and change the background
Picsart has an Object Remover that cleans unwanted things out of the frame, plus a background remover and replacer, AI enhancement for low quality images and AI filters. Picsart Plus and Pro add more templates and AI tools.
Tips for a clean result
Small objects on an even background, such as sky, sand or a wall, disappear best. Remove a large object on a busy background in parts. For damaged old prints, see apps to restore old photos, and for other edits, photo editing apps.
