Taxi apps in Germany
In Germany you can order a taxi from your phone. taxi.eu lets you pick the vehicle type and extras like a child seat and shows the expected fare and time. Taxi Deutschland orders automatically in most big German cities and connects you by phone in smaller ones. Freenow by Lyft books licensed taxis and lists Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin and Düsseldorf among its airport transfer hubs.
How we chose: taxi apps that describe service in Germany, sold by the company itself on the App Store, with features taken from each app’s store description. No fares or prices.
taxi.eu: pick the car and the extras
taxi.eu brings taxi companies together in one app that works in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark. Depending on availability you order the nearest taxi, a Business taxi, a Safe taxi with a partition, an XXL taxi for 5 to 8 people or a Green taxi, add a baby seat or child seat, a driver who speaks foreign languages, or room for pets, large luggage and a folding wheelchair. Once you enter the destination it shows the expected fare and travel time, and you can book for later and pay cashless.
Taxi Deutschland: from big cities to small towns
Taxi Deutschland orders a taxi automatically in most big German cities, such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt, and in smaller towns places the order by phone straight from the app. It shows when a taxi can reach you, how long the ride takes and roughly what it costs. In selected cities you pay in the app by credit card or PayPal and get the receipt by email, in your home city you can pay by monthly invoice, and extras let you choose the vehicle type or book ahead.
Freenow: licensed taxis and airports
Freenow by Lyft books taxis with professional, licensed drivers and also offers e-scooters, e-bikes, e-mopeds, carsharing and rides. You pay by cash, card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal, share the trip in real time and pre-book up to 90 days ahead. Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin and Düsseldorf are among the hubs where it lists 24/7 airport transfers.
Which one to use
For a child seat, a big car or a pet, start with taxi.eu. In a small town, Taxi Deutschland still gets you a taxi by phone from the app. For the airport, Freenow fits. For trains and city transport, see transport apps for Germany, and in Poland, taxi apps for Poland.
