Apps for routers
Each router maker has its own app: TP-Link Tether for TP-Link routers and range extenders, TP-Link Deco for Deco mesh, Mi Wi-Fi for Xiaomi, HUAWEI AI Life for Huawei, ASUS Router, MERCUSYS and Tenda WiFi. They set up the network, change the Wi-Fi name and password, show who is connected and block unknown devices. All seven have a Ukrainian interface.
How we picked: only the app each router maker publishes, from its App Store and Google Play listing and the maker’s own pages. Several makers keep a list of compatible models, so check yours before you install.
TP-Link: Tether or Deco
TP-Link Tether manages TP-Link routers, xDSL routers and range extenders: set the Wi-Fi name and password and the Internet or VDSL/ADSL settings, block unknown users, set client permissions and parental controls by schedule or website, find a good spot for the extender and switch the LEDs off at night. TP-Link keeps a list of routers that work with Tether and notes that some need a firmware update first. For a Deco mesh system use TP-Link Deco: it walks you through setup, suggests where to put more Deco units, runs speed tests, creates a guest network and warns about threats.
Xiaomi and Huawei
Mi Wi-Fi is Xiaomi’s router app: it lists connected devices and sets their access and bandwidth, alerts you when an unknown device tries to join and can block it, switches Wi-Fi off at set hours, reboots on a schedule and turns off the panel light. HUAWEI AI Life manages Huawei Wi-Fi routers, mobile Wi-Fi and 4G and 5G routers along with Huawei earphones and speakers. On Android, Huawei offers it through its AppGallery rather than Google Play.
ASUS, Mercusys and Tenda
ASUS Router monitors and manages an ASUS router remotely, adds AiMesh nodes, runs parental controls and a guest network you can share by QR code, and handles firmware updates, VPN and QoS. MERCUSYS sets up Halo mesh and Mercusys routers, helps place extra Halo units, shares the guest network, pauses Wi-Fi on kids’ devices and lets a family member help manage the network. Tenda WiFi manages Tenda home network devices from the phone.
Who is on your Wi-Fi
Each app shows the devices on your network, so you can spot and block one you do not recognise. For screen time beyond the router, see parental control apps; to find weak spots in your coverage, Wi-Fi heatmap apps.
