How we picked: people look for a poetry app either to write more, to find the right rhyme or to share and read. We read each developer’s own store description for how writing works, who reads your poems and what helps when you get stuck.
Write a poem together, one line at a time
Rhyma is a poetry game: you see only the previous line, add your own in about three minutes, rhyming or not, and someone else takes over, perhaps on the other side of the world. Nobody sees the whole poem until the last line is in, and then every contributor reads it. You can write with strangers in World or create a Circle for friends, family or coworkers, start poems of your own, react and comment on finished poems and follow a journey map for each one. There is a choice of languages to write in, and every line comes from a person, not AI.
Share your poems and get feedback
Poetizer is a poetry writing community without third-party ads, where poets from around the world read each other and give constructive feedback, and Poetizer Publishing turns your poems into printed books you can sell. Poesie works the other way round, as a book club for poetry readers: each week features one poet, with a selection every morning, and you can leave recordings and comments on the poems you love.
Find a rhyme when you are stuck
Rhymer’s Block is a notepad for poems, raps and song lyrics that suggests rhymes as you type, works out how a word sounds even when it is not in the dictionary, finds slant rhymes such as dark and heart, puts the most common words first and colour-codes the rhymes in each entry. It works offline, syncs to the cloud with an account and has a feed called The Block for sharing work and getting feedback. For everyday notes and ideas, see note-taking apps.
