How to book train and bus tickets online
The bus leaves from the other station. The name on the ticket has a typo. Your phone has no signal at the platform and the ticket will not load. Each of these ruins a trip, and each takes a moment to prevent when you book.
Booking checks that save a trip, then ticket apps. Refunds, changes and the documents you need on board are set by each carrier and route. Read them before you pay, and for border crossings check the entry rules with official sources.
Buy from the right place
The carrier’s own app or a well-known booking app is the safe choice. Be wary of resellers you have never heard of. In Ukraine, compare options in train, bus and flight ticket apps.
Check the details twice
Names, dates and the departure station are the usual mistakes. Some trains check passenger names against ID, so type them exactly as they appear on your document.
Keep the ticket with you
Save the ticket to your phone’s wallet or take a screenshot of the QR code, so it opens without a connection. For the rest of the trip, see how to plan a trip itinerary.
At the other end
Once you arrive, local buses and metros have their own tickets; see how to use public transport in a new city. Need a bed too? See how to book a hotel without surprises.
