App Store creative assets: headers and search result visuals in iOS 27
Short answer: from iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, your App Store presence is no longer limited to screenshots and app previews. You can add creative assets, images or videos about your brand, a season or new content, as a product page header and as your search result visual, and reuse them on custom product pages and in Apple Ads. They are reviewed like other metadata, and once approved in the new Asset Library you can swap them without a new app submission.
Where creative assets appear
From Apple’s What’s New and Asset Best Practices pages, read 30 September 2026.
| Placement | What it replaces or adds | Tip from Apple |
|---|---|---|
| Product page header | New area at the top of the product page | One clear idea, made for a first-time visitor |
| Search results | Replaces screenshots and previews in the result | Make the app’s purpose obvious at a glance |
| Custom product pages | A header per page, and per keyword in search | Match the visual of the ad or site that links there |
| Product page optimization | Test alternative headers | Keep the version that performs best |
| Apple Ads | Today tab and search result ads | Reuse approved assets |
| In-App Events | Event card 16:9 and details page 9:16 | Complement the event badge, don’t repeat it |

Frequently asked questions
What are App Store creative assets?
Images and videos that go beyond showing your app in use, such as brand, seasonal or new content visuals. From iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 they can appear as your product page header and in search results.
Do creative assets need App Review?
Yes. Submit them with an app version or on their own through Asset Library. Once approved, you can switch between approved assets on your header and search result without another review.
What size should an App Store header image be?
Apple does not list pixel sizes on its public best practices page; it provides Figma, Photoshop and Pixelmator templates there, and App Store Connect’s preview shows how the asset crops on iPhone and iPad.
Can I put a discount or price in a creative asset?
No. Apple asks you not to include pricing, discounts, website URLs or copyright symbols, so assets stay relevant worldwide.
What shows in search results if I don’t add a creative asset?
Your In-App Events, app previews and screenshots, as before.
