How to read your App Store analytics as an indie developer
App Store Connect gives you more charts than answers. Impressions, product page views, conversion rate, downloads, sources, retention, crashes: it is easy to watch numbers move without knowing what to change. The trick is to read them as a funnel, find the step where you lose the most people, and work on that one step until it improves.
A practical way to read the data, then App Store analytics apps, with a section for analytics apps rising by visits on the Censuus ranking. Metric names and definitions can change, so check Apple’s current documentation.

Read the funnel step by step
Impressions show how often you appear in search and browse. Product page views show how many people are curious enough to tap. Conversion shows how many of them download. A drop at one step points to a specific fix: keywords, icon and title, or the store page itself.
Compare by source
Split the funnel by source, such as App Store search, browse and web referrals. Search traffic often behaves differently from people arriving from a link. Knowing where downloads come from tells you where to invest effort.
Watch retention and crashes after installs
Downloads mean little if people leave after the first day. Retention and crash reports show whether the app keeps its promise. A spike in crashes after an update can hurt ratings and conversion.
Change one thing and compare
Change one element at a time, such as screenshots, subtitle or keywords, note the date and compare the following weeks. For store page work, see how to make App Store screenshots; compare tools in App Store Connect analytics apps.
