How to play Bulls and Cows, and answers to common questions
A quick guide to the rules plus straight answers, based on the app’s own listing.
The steps and answers below follow the live Google Play listing. Bulls and Cows is free to play; the listing names no price, so we quote none.
Step 1 — Install the game
Install the game from Google Play (Android).
Step 2 — Pick a mode
Pick a mode: Time attack, a Number-of-digits difficulty, or Training.
Step 3 — The game sets a hidden number
The game sets a hidden number of the chosen length; your job is to deduce it.
Step 4 — Guess and read the clues
Enter a guess. The game replies with “bulls” (correct digit in the correct place) and “cows” (correct digit in the wrong place).
Step 5 — Refine until solved
Use those clues to refine your next guess — rule digits in and out until the number is fully “bulls.”
Step 6 — Push for speed or a friend
Solve it in as few guesses (or as fast) as you can; try a harder mode or challenge a friend.
